Creating Web Sites with Microsoft FrontPage
Preparing for Tomorrow
Preparing web sites has never been easier using Microsoft's FrontPage. FrontPage is a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) program. You don't need any knowledge of HTML or other coding to use this program. Some of the features of FrontPage include:
- Web Page Templates
- Easily import graphics, audio, video
- Ability to view html code
- FTP feature included for easy upload to internet
Microsoft has developed an excellent tutorial for developing web pages in FrontPage 2002. It is highly recommended that you download and save this tutorial to your computer since there are several graphics and links included in the tutorial. They have also developed a Microsoft Word document that describes in detail the steps for developing web pages. These two links are an excellent starting point for learning FrontPage.
Limitation of FrontPage
There are two main drawback to using Microsoft FrontPage as your web page editor. The first drawback is that the server you upload your web site on will need to provide the FrontPage Extensions. Not all providers include this in their services. Make sure you check with your service provider before you create the web pages in FrontPage. If the service does not include the FrontPage Extensions, many of your web page features may not function.
The second drawback of FrontPage is that there is a limited number of templates available for your use. However, the good news is that once you learn FrontPage, you can create your own designs with relative ease.
