Blackboard is an online learning suite that allows instructors to build a comprehensive course for asynchronous learning or hybrid courses. Blackboard has the ability to load what are referred to as course packs. These are pre-designed courses complete with content that can be used as is or altered to suit the users needs. Blackboard has an integrated learning management systems that allows the instructor to create discussion boards, surveys, quizzes, and other multimedia content. Blackboard also has the ability to incorporate add-on programs such as Horizon Wimba. Incorporating programs like Horizon Wimba allows instructors to add a synchronous component to their online learning.
